Fiery X4 on a TCP/IP network with Windows NT 4.0
For Windows NT 4.0, install the AdobePS PostScript printer driver and Fiery X4 printer
description on the Windows NT 4.0 server (see Getting Started).
You can also use the Windows NT 4.0 PostScript printer driver that was automatically
installed with Windows NT 4.0. However, you need to install the Fiery X4 PostScript
printer description provided on the User Software CD.
Repeat the installation for everyone who prints to the Fiery X4.
Each server and workstation running the Fiery utilities with TCP/IP also needs the
TCP/IP protocol and the Fiery utility software.
Configuring a Windows NT 4.0 server to support the Fiery X4
To configure a Windows NT 4.0 server to communicate with the Fiery X4, follow
these general steps. More detail is provided in subsequent sections and in your
Microsoft documentation.
• Load the TCP/IP network protocol on the server and configure it with an
IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
page 5-10).
• Perform Fiery X4 Setup.
• On the Windows NT 4.0 server, create a printer for each Fiery X4 print connection,
install the appropriate printer drivers and (optionally) share the printer on the net-
work (see page 5-11).
• Enter the host name and remote printer name of the Fiery X4 in the printer connec-
tion. See page 5-15 for more information.
• If the Windows NT 4.0 server is also a workstation, install the Fiery utilities (see
Getting Started).
