Release of the
ARPE1 System Software v1.10
Model Name:
ARPE1 Fiery Controller
Overview:
A new updated version of the ARPE1 system software is now available.
v1.10 is a full system upgrade (rather than a patch) and will require a full re-
install of the ARPE1 system software. Accompanying this System Software is
a new updated User CD.
The System Software & User CD can be obtained from the Sharp parts
centre using part number ARPE1CDROM110. The price rank is “AR”.
The following issues have been fixed in this v1.10 System Software.
•  Printing did not re-start after a paper out condition when printing multiple
sets to the sorter.
•  Lockups/Jams could occur if a large number of duplex sets were printed
i.e 100 sets of a 26 page job.
•  Colour banding “Noise” like lines could appear down images on a print.
•  Large print jobs failed to cancel.
•  The number of requested sets could be incorrectly displayed in the
ARPE1 LCD screen or Command Workstation software.
•  “Cancel RIP Job” messages could fail to clear on the ARPE1 LCD after
cancelling a print job.
•  The “F9-00” error message could appear if a paper tray was opened
whilst within “Run Setup” of the ARPE1’s menu system.
•  The sorter could fail to work correctly when printing 21 sets of 5 or more
pages in simplex mode.
•  The “Load xxx size paper” message does not appear on the copiers LCD
screen when the required paper size is not available.
•  The default “Page Order“ was set to “Forward” but has been changed in
v1.10 to “Reverse”.

Additional improvements have also been made to the communication between the ARPE1 and
ARC150 copier. In order to obtain this improved communication, the firmware of the AR-C150 should
also be upgraded to the latest level. This is presently ICU-513, PCU-511, OPE-507.
This firmware can be obtained from the Sharp Technical Web under the Copier-ARC150 area.
Procedure to update the ARPE1 System Software
The system software installation will take around 32 minutes. Once started, ensure that the ARPE1 is
not turned off unless the LCD Panel of the ARPE1 prompts you to do so.
(1)  During the re-installation of the system software, all print jobs/configuration settings & job log
data will be deleted from the ARPE1.
Ensure that you backup any required print jobs that may be stored within the ARPE1
Spool/RIP/Print queues, or Archive/Freeform areas. Print out a job log (If required), and print out
a configuration sheet so that the ARPE1 can easily be re-configured after the installation.
(2)  Insert Part 1 of the System Software CD in to the ARPE1 and reboot the unit. Select “Yes” and
press OK when prompted with “All data will be deleted. Continue ? Yes/No”.
(3)  After 3 minutes you will be prompted to remove Part 1 of the system software and insert the
second CD. Insert the second CD and reboot the ARPE1. After a further 5 minutes you are
prompted to remove the second CD. Remove this CD and reboot the ARPE1 again.
(4)  The installation will now continue for a further 24 minutes whilst the partitions of the ARPE1 hard
disc are configured and the NT Operating System and Fiery software are installed.
(5)  When the ARPE1 reaches an idle state, its configuration settings can be re-configured using the
previously printed configuration page. Any previously archived print jobs can now be imported
back in to the ARPE1.
For further details of approximate timings and actions performed during the system software
installation please refer to the table on the following page.
During the installation process, the ghost image backup that is stored on the ARPE1’s hard drive will
also be updated to v1.10.
User CD
The User CD contains later versions of printer driver and utility software. Although the ARPE1 with
system software v1.10 will work with any existing installed ARPE1 printer driver and software, it is
recommended that the later versions of printer driver are installed.
