(5) Communication Operations
(i)
Print
The communication process performed for outputting data from the DSC-F1 and printing 2 sheets of images by the DPP-
M55 is described below. (See the following figure.)
Fig. 1-14 Data Communication for Printing 2 Images
(a)
Confirmation of communication...
1
When printing is executed at the DSC-F1, start signals are output periodically from the DSC-F1 to confirm
communication with the DPP-M55.
When the DPP-M55 receives a start signal from the DSC-F1, it outputs a confirmation signal. On output, it will sound
one short beep.
If the confirmation signal from the DPP-M55 is not received within 50 seconds after the DSC-F1 starts checking
communication, the DSC-F1 displays “print error” on the LCD and ends operations.
(Reference) Confirmation of signal
At the start of communication, the DSC-F1 confirms that the other party is a SONY printer.
The DSC-F1 does not receive other types of signals.
(b) Transfer of image data...
2
First the initialization command is transferred, the memory of the DPP-M55 is cleared, and image data of one image
JPEG expanded is transferred. (This takes about 1 minute 25 seconds.)
(c)
Printing operations by DPP-M55...
3
When the DSC-F1 successfully carries out the transfer of image data of one image, it transfers the print command. The
DPP-M55 then outputs the signal confirming the print command, and starts printing operations. At the same time, it sounds
one long beep.
At this point, since it has to print another image, the DSC-F1 sets into the standby state for about 1 minute.
If an error occurs during the transfer of image data and the DPP-M55 is unable to read one part of the image data
correctly, the DSC-F1 retransfers only the data which the DPP-M55 could not read according to the confirmation signal
from the DPP-M55 after data transfer.
(Repair tips) When no long beep is sounded
After the short beep to confirm communication is sounded by the DPP-M55, if it does not sound the long beep after the
specified time (85 seconds), the DSC-F1 retransfers the data because it means that the image data was not read correctly
halfway through due to noise, etc.
Retransfer of the data is performed repeatedly until the data is read properly. However, if the long beep is not sounded
for more than 3 minutes, stop printing and improve the communication state.
Example.
Clean the IrDA transferring and receiving sections.
Face the transferring and receiving sections towards each other at a distance of 15 cm apart.
Do not use noise sources such as the infrared remote controller of TV, etc.
