4. Audio Digital Signal Process Circuit
 (1) Decoding
(P.27)

As for the digital audio signal, the signal that undergoes the digital signal process at the selector
(IC2208) is selected, and then input to DSP1 (IC2201).

At DSP1 (IC2201), decode processing such as Dolby Digital/Dolby Prologic II Adaptive Matrix
Surround/DTS/MPEG-2 AAC (LC) takes place. Then, the signals are bundled for every two
channels to be output to DSP2 (IC2251) as four lines of signals.

(Important) Signal types to be decoded

When a signal is decoded at DSP1 (IC2201), that information is transmitted to the main
microprocessor (IC2601), and is displayed on the main unit display. If the information is displayed
properly on the main unit display, the decoding process at DSP1 is being performed.

(Note) When MPEG-2 AAC (LC) cannot be decoded ... J-model only

When MPEG-2 AAC (LC) only cannot be decoded properly, check the IC performance of DSP1
(IC2201) and S-RAM (IC2202).

  (2) Sound field/equalizer process
 (P.27)

Sound field or equalizer process is applied to the digital signal input to DSP2 (IC2201). Two
S-RAMs (IC2252 and IC2253) are utilized as buffers for the signal processing.

The digital audio signals that have undergone the digital process are bundled for every two
channels to be output to the DC OUT digital filter (IC2401) as four lines of signals (SD01 to SD04).

  (3) DC phase linearizer
 (P.28)

The digital audio signal is input to the DC OUT digital filter (IC2401), and low-band phase
control takes place according to the DC phase linearizer setting that is set by the user.

Note that the digital-converted analog multi-channel input has been input to the DC OUT digital
filter, and an appropriate signal is selected according to the playback mode.

The processed digital audio signal is output to the lip-sync adjustment (IC2301).

(Reference) Setting the DC phase linearizer
If the DC phase linearizer is set to ON, the low-band phase characteristic is approximated to that
of the traditional analog amplifier. The B characteristic gives a phase characteristic that is richer in
its base sound.
