MX-5500N/6200N/7000N6201N/7001N
2.Symptom:
Several thousands of sheets may be printed in a single job and after that only several tens to
several hundreds of sheets may be printed in a day. If such a condition is repeated, fog occurs
easily, causing gradual appearance of a thorough and even fog symptom.
In a low humidity environment, a drum characteristic factor also causes fog to easily occur.

easily, causing gradual appearance of a thorough and even fog symptom.
In a low humidity environment, a drum characteristic factor also causes fog to easily occur.
3.Cause:
1. Factor on developing side
If a large amount of jobs are continuously executed, the charging amount of the developer
rises. If the digital full color part is stopped and left for several hours in this status, toner may
not be supplied based on the "under toner" detection recorded when the previous job was
executed although the charging amount of the developer actually lowered due to natural
discharging.
not be supplied based on the "under toner" detection recorded when the previous job was
executed although the charging amount of the developer actually lowered due to natural
discharging.
If such a condition is repeated, fog may ultimately occur due to "over toner" because toner
density rises gradually.
2. Drum factor
In the low humidity environment, low surface potential of the drum during continuous printing
and little margin of the cleaning field may cause fog.
4.Description:
1. Fogging due to the factor in the development section
This fogging is resolved by the modification of the condition of transition to the toner
replenishment mode in a stand-by state after continuous printing and by the alteration of the
toner density calibration control table value, and thereby preventing excess toner caused by
the excessive calibration of toner density.
Upgrade with the following PCU firmware:
- PCU firmware version "01.09.D0" and later for MX-5500N/6200N/7000N.
- PCU firmware version "01.05.V0" and later for MX-6201N/7001N.

2. Fogging due to the factor of the drum
This fogging is resolved by taking such measures against the lowering of drum surface
potential as to alter the output setting of the development bias and the grid bias, expanding
the cleaning field.
Refer to the following accompanying specification for the setting values after the alteration of
the development bias and grid bias in each model.

From August 2008 production
6. Action For Field:
Take the following steps for the solution when the fogging caused by the above-mentioned
factors happened in the machines manufactured prior to August 2008 production.

(3) Solution for the lowering of drum surface potential
1. Obtain the rated value of the MIDDLE mode for each color indicated on the label stuck on
the MC and DV high-voltage power supply PWB.

2. With reference to the rated value indicated on the label, set the values of Sim08-01, and
Sim08-02 in MIDDLE and LOW/HIGH in this order according to the following
accompanying specification. (Be aware that the setting values of LOW/HIGH may
change if the value of MIDDLE is set up after setting up the values of LOW/HIGH.)
