2. Amplifier Operation
  (1) Selecting the components
(i) When i.LINK is selected ... User’s Manual
P.22

When “i.LINK” is selected for the input, and the power setting of the i.LINK circuit is set to
AUTO (auto power-OFF), it takes a while to establish a connection.

(ii) Connected i.LINK component name ... User’s Manual
P.22

Once the i.LINK connection is established, the connected device name (e.g., SCD-XA9000ES) is
displayed.

As stated in the note on
P.49
of the User’s Manual, “the TA-DA9000ES only supports one-tone
connection with the SCD-XA9000ES”, which basically means not to connect multiple devices. If
multiple i.LINK devices are connected, the connected device names are displayed, but their
performance is not guaranteed.

(iii) To mute the sound ... User’s Manual
P.22

When the MUTE button on the remote controller is pressed, the mute function is activated. Since
the mute state is stored in the internal memory, it is not cancelled even after the power is turned off.

To cancel the mute state, press the MUTE button on the remote controller again, or rotate the
MASTER VOLUME knob on the main unit to turn up the sound volume.

  (2) Listening to multi-channel sound ... User’s Manual
P.23

If you press MULTICH IN 1/2 repeatedly to set multi-channel input to be directly output, a
higher-quality audio can be output by shortcutting part of the digital circuit in the unit.
Note that the surround effect (sound field) and lip-sync functions cannot be used during
multi-channel input. Digital signal processes including equalizer adjustment are available.

  (3) Indications on the display
(i) Playback channel indicators ... User’s Manual
P.24

The channels that output the audio are displayed as “characters” and “character frames”.
“Characters” such as L, SR, and SW indicate the sound sources, and the “character frames” that
enclose the characters indicate the positions of the speakers that output the audio.

・
When outputting 4.1ch audio by converting 2ch audio by Prologic process while the speaker
setting is 5-1, the characters of the front 2 channels + center + “S (surround)” + subwoofer are
displayed as the sound sources converted by Prologic process. In addition, the screen shows the
frames for the five speakers that actually output the audio.
