sixth-channel audio is not from the subwoofer.
On this special disc, the sixth channel is not subwoofer output; it is output from a speaker installed
on the ceiling. (The details are described in the manual of this type of disc.) If the speaker is installed
on the ceiling according to the instructions on the disc, set this function to ON.
(iv) MIX SCALING (Downmix scaling) ... User’s Manual
P.37
When downmixing the center channel or the subwoofer channel, if this function is set to ON, the
optimal sound volume in the digital signal process undergoes a scaling process that conforms to
Dolby specifications, which causes the sound quality to slightly degrade.
If this is set to OFF, the sound quality does not degrade, but it may sound like noise when the
input signal is large. In such a case, we recommend that you set it to ON.
(v) DEC. PRIORITY (Digital audio input decoding priority) ... User’s Manual
P.37
If this is set to AUTO, sufficient time is required to recognize the digital signal type, resulting in
the head portion being omitted.
If this is set to PCM, the head portion is properly output when the PCM signal is input, but in
some cases no sound is output when a signal other than that of PCM is input. Check whether this is
properly set if the audio of a particular signal format is not output.
(4) Advanced SPEAKER SET UP menu parameters
(i) OUTPUT (PRE OUT downmixing) ... User’s Manual
P.39
When this is set to ALL ON, downmixing takes place in the digital process. In other cases, analog
downmixing takes place.
(5) Setting the Advanced SURR SET UP menu ... User’s Manual
P.39
All settings such as allocating channel audio and setting the sound field mode undergo a digital
signal process.
(6) Advanced LEVEL menu parameters ... User’s Manual
P.40

(ii) PHASE AUDIO
This is used for checking the designated position. Use it when the input audio signal is easier to
detect than a noise.
