IMPROVEMENT IN MINOR UNEVEN CONTRASTING

DENSITY AT A CONSTANT PITCH.

2.Symptom:

In the case of halftone or solid printing, minor uneven contrasting density may be created at
a 26.8 mm pitch in the paper printing direction.

3.General:

Eccentricity of the DMX gear has an affect on printing surface at a constant pitch. The
investigation of causes has revealed that minor uneven contrasting density is created at a
26.8 mm pitch by two gears swinging at different intervals. The DMX gear engagement is
adjusted properly by attaching the two DMX gears so that the D-cut sides of both DMX
rollers align and their swing synchronizes. Consequently, minor uneven contrasting density
will be reduced.
For the production, the DMX gear has been attached as illustrated on the next page. Please
take the measure on the next page for all DV units (BK/C/M/Y) when the abovementioned
symptom occurs at a customer’s site.

4.Measure:

1. Remove two DMX gears from the front side of the DV unit.
2. Turn the D-cut sides of the right and left DMX rollers up. (Make sure that both rollers turn up).
3. Attach the two DMX gears that have been removed in the step 1.

(Note: Hold the right and left DMX rollers from the rear side of the DMX gears when

attaching the gears. Confirm that the protruding portion of the DMX gear fits in the
groove of the DMX roller.)
