Installation of the AR-P15 on a Windows 9.x

Note:
The AR-P15 supports SMB “Point & Print” printing on a Windows 9x Peer to Peer
network. If the AR-P15 and the workstations are on different subnet of the network,
the use of WINS servers or a Port Redirector on each workstation will be required for
printing, if the routers do not allow NetBIOS broadcast traffic to pass through.

This installation consists of four separate tasks:
(1) Setup of the Windows 9x Workstation.
(2) Setup of the AR-P15.
(3) Installation of the Windows 9x Print Driver.

1) Setup of the Windows 9x Workstation
All computers in the workgroup must have the following settings to print to the AR-P15:-

Verify that Client for Microsoft Networks and the TCP/IP protocol stack have been installed for the network card
within the configuration tab. If Client for Microsoft Networks is not installed, select Add, Client, Microsoft and

Highlight TCP/IP and click on Properties. Click on the IP Address tab and verify that both the IP address
and subnet mask are correctly set for the workstation. All machines must have valid, unique IP
addresses with identical subnet masks.

All computers must have unique computer names that must be 15 characters or less. Click on the
Identification tab within the network dialog box. Enter a computer name and a workgroup name. These

Click on OK and reboot the workstation, when prompted to do so.

2) Configure the AR-P15 for the network.
Before the AR-P15 can be installed onto the network, the AR-P15 must have a valid IP address and subnet
mask.
Complete the following steps to set the IP address from the Sharp Digital Copier LCD panel
On the Control Panel of the AR651/810 copier, press the Printer/Network key. The Print or Print/Scan menu is
displayed.
Press the On/Off menu on the Touch Screen and take the controller Offline. Enter the Setting menu and press
Admin.
Enter the “Admin” password.
Note: When you set-up the AR-P15 for the first time, an “Admin” password is not set.

Within the setting menu, click on Protocol Setup and select TCP/IP
Press Ethernet to enter the Ethernet menu.
Press Enable to enable TCP/IP & select Disable Auto IP, as a static IP address & subnet is to be entered
manually.
