FILE DESCRIPTIONS
SAVE FILES
Description
The SAVE Files are only required on a Master/Slave system, they
will allow for Individual Resetting reports to be taken on each
machine the sales data is then stored in the SAVE files ready for a
Consolidation Report at the Master.
Consequences
Therefore if there are no save files in a particular machine and a
Reset report is taken then these figures will not be included in the
Masters Consolidation report..
RECEIVE FILES
Description
The Receive files are also only required on a Networked system.
They are used in conjunction with Consolidated Reports.
They reside only in the Master terminal.
When a System Report is activated the sales data from each
individual terminal is collected and stored in the Receive File in the
Master Terminal.
Consequences
If the Receive Files are not created in the Master Terminal then it
will not be possible to produce System reports.
CONSOLIDATION FILES
Description
These files are similar to the Receive files in that they are only
required in the Master Machine.
The information that had been collected and stored in the Receive
files is then transferred to the Consolidation file ready for print out.
Consequences
If these files are not created then the machine would not produce
any data on a consolidated system report.
