6-Channel Direct Input
Connect the 6-channel analog output from an
external surround decoder to these 6 inputs. Or if
your DVD player has a built-in surround decoder,
its 6-channel output should be connected here.
Make certain that channels are connected to a
matching input. (e.g., front left to front left, center
to center, etc.). The 6-Channel inputs accept
analog signals from decoders for Dolby Digital
(AC3), DTS, MPEG-2 or any future surround
format. Festival 40 adjusts the overall volume on
these 6 channels before the signal is sent to the
Amplifier. Individual channel level calibration for
components connected to the external decoder
must be made using the controls of the external
decoder. Select this source by pressing
Input
Selector
M
(front) repeatedly until
6 CH IN
appears in the
System Display
J
or by pressing
6 CH
7
(remote).
Subwoofer Output
An optional powered subwoofer or subwoofer
with separate power amplifier can be connected
to this phono socket. Because the signal from
this output is filtered optimally, the subwoofer
does not have to include a crossover filter.
Aux In
An extra audio source component may be con-
nected to the Controller input marked
Aux
. Select
this source by pressing
Input Selector
M
(front)
repeatedly until
AUX appears in the
System
Display
J
or by pressing
AUX
6
(remote).
Loudspeakers Connectors
Loudspeaker Connections
Connect loudspeaker cable with a minimum
diameter of 1.5 mm between each of the 5
speaker outputs (Front Left, Front Right, Center,
Rear Left, Rear Right) on the rear of the Amplifier
and the corresponding loudspeaker in your
surround system. Strip the ends of the wire so
that about 1 cm of bare wire is exposed. Make
certain that all connections are correct and tight.
Make certain that for each loudspeaker, the red
plus terminal on the Amplifier is connected to the
red plus terminal on the loudspeaker and that
the black minus terminal on the Amplifier is
connected to the black minus terminal on the
loudspeaker.
