System Connectors
System Cable From Pre Amplifier

Connect the wide system cable

Antenna connections
Connect the enclosed FM antenna to the socket
on the Controller labeled 
FM 75 Ohms
. Connect
the enclosed AM loop antenna to the screw
terminals on the Controller labeled 
AM Loop
.
Switched AC Power Outlets
The AC power cords from the CD Changer 
d
and from the Amplifier 
e can be connected to
AC outlets on the rear of the Controller 
. One
additional external component with a power
consumption of less than 100 Watts may be
connected to the third outlet. If in doubt, consult
the power consumption specifications for the
component in its owner's manual.
The AC outlets will provide AC power as soon as
the main Power switch on the controller is pres-
sed in both in Standby or when fully on.
Televisions and external power amplifiers should
not be connected to the controllers AC outlets.
Audio/Video Connectors
Video1 In/Out
A videocassette recorder can be connected to
the phono sockets labeled 
Video1 In/Out
.
Connect 
Audio Video1 In
on the Controller to
the audio outputs of the VCR for playback from
the VCR. Connect 
Audio Video1 Out
on the
Controller to the audio inputs of the VCR to
record from Festival 40 or connected
components.
Connect the yellow 
Video1 In
socket on the
Controller to the video output of the VCR for play-
back from the VCR. Connect the yellow 
Video1
Out
socket on the Controller to the video input
of the VCR to record from video components
(DVD, etc.) connected to the Controller. Select
this source by pressing 
Input Selector

(front)
or 
Vid1/Vid2

(remote) repeatedly until
VIDEO1 appears in the display.
Connect the yellow 
Monitor
output on the
rear of the Controller to the video input of your
television.
Note: If your VCR or TV does not have audio/
video phono sockets to match the Festival 40,
but only 21-pin Euro/SCART connectors,
adaptors from SCART 
6 x Phono (see fig. 1)
and/or from 3 x Phono 
→ 
Scart (see fig. 2) or
SCART 
3 x Phono (see fig. 3) are needed.

MD In/Out
An audio source which can also record (cassette
deck, Minidisc, etc.) can be connected to the
phono sockets labeled 
MD In/Out
. Connect 
MD
In
on the Controller to the outputs of the recorder
for playback from the recorder. Connect 
MD Out
on the Controller to the inputs of the recorder to
record from Festival 40 or connected compo-
nents. The source selected as playback source
on the Festival 40 (except MD itself), will always
be fed to 
MD Out
for recording. Select MD as
playback source by pressing
