2. WRITING OF FIRMWARE
The following procedures are used in DPF-XR100 model.
Conduct the same adjustment for the other models.
2-1. METHOD OF WRITING OF FIRMWARE
Execute writing the latest firmware when the MAI-010 PC Board Assy
(Service) was replaced.
If the firmware is not written, normal operation is not done.
Note: Execute the following procedure in order: WRITING OF SUB CPU, PRE
UPDATE, WRITING OF FIRMWARE and CHANGE THE DESTINA-
TION.
Preparation
1. Ready the SD card or SDHC card which capacity is 32GB or less.

(hereinafter referred to as “the SD card”)
2. Format it by using “SD Formatter 3.0 (or later) for SD/SDHC/
SDXC” providing via a URL below.
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/
Note: Do not use the SD card formatted without tool above. Updater may cause
abnormal operations.
3. Download the following three files from the ESI homepage.
• DPF_ALEX99_2010XXXX.zip (for pre update)
• SDUPDATER_2010XXXX.zip (photo frame firmware)
• SUBCPUXX_2010XXXX.zip (sub CPU)
Note: Download latest files.
4. Decompress the zip files downloaded.
2-1-1. WRITING OF SUB CPU
Procedure
1. Copy SUBCPUXX.VUP created by the decompression of

SUBCPUXX_2010XXXX.zip onto the root directory of the SD
card. (most significant hierarchy)
Note: Do not copy the file except SUBCPUXX.VUP.
2. Insert the SD card into the SD card slot on the back surface of the
photo frame.
3. Insert the plug of the AC adaptor of accessories into outlet.
4. Insert the plug of the AC adaptor into DC IN 9V terminal on the
back surface of the photo frame while pressing the [VIEW MODE]
button to turn on the power.
5. Release the [VIEW MODE] button when a “S-Frame” logo appears.
6. When the maintenance mode screen appears, move the cursor to
“Update firmware” by pressing the [V] [v] button, and press the
[ENTER] button. (Fig. 2-1-1)
8. After displaying a version screen, confirm whether the “Updated
version” is the same as the version that has been described in the
homepage of ESI, and press the [ENTER] button. (Fig. 2-1-3)
9. After displaying “Completed.”, unplug the AC adapter to turn off
the power. (Fig. 2-1-4)
Note: Power cannot be turned off by pressing the 1 (on/standby) button.
10. Press the [RESET] button on the back surface of the photo frame
by using small needle.
11. Insert the plug of the AC adaptor into DC IN 9V terminal on the
back surface of the photo frame while pressing the [MENU] button
and [ENTER] button to turn on the power.
12. Release the [MENU] button and [ENTER] button when a “S-Frame”
logo appears.
6. When the maintenance mode screen appears, move the cursor to
“Update firmware” by pressing the [V] [v] button, and press the
[ENTER] button. (Fig. 2-1-7)
7. When a “Checking the update file.” appears, release the [ENTER]
button. (Fig. 2-1-8)
8. When the version up screen appears, confirm the figure of “Updated
version” is 99.99, and press the [ENTER] button. (Fig. 2-1-9)
13. After displaying an initial screen of the service mode, move the
cursor to “System Info” by pressing the [V] [v] button, and press
the [ENTER] button. (Fig. 2-1-5)
15. Press the [BACK] button to return to the initial screen of the service
mode.
16. Turn off the power pressing the 1 (on/standby) button for a second.
17. Remove the SD card from the photo frame.
2-1-2. PRE UPDATE
Procedure
1. Delete

SUBCPUXX.VUP
from the SD card.
2. Copy DPF_ALEX99.VUP created by the decompression
of DPF_ALEX99_2010XXXX.zip in the folder of DPF_
ALEX99_2010XXXX onto the root directory of the SD card. (most
significant hierarchy)
Note: Do not copy the files except DPF_ALEX99.VUP.
3. Insert the SD card into the SD card slot on the back surface of the
photo frame.
4. Turn on the 1 (on/standby) button while pressing the [VIEW
MODE] button.
5. Release the [VIEW MODE] button when a “S-Frame” logo appears.
14. Confirm whether the version of the “subcpu” of “Partition Info” is
the same figure as the version of the firmware that has been described
in the homepage of ESI. (Fig. 2-1-6)
