NOTE  OF  THE  MAIN  BOARD  ASSY  REPLACING
When you replace the MAIN board assy, peel off the sheet (speak-
er) label from the old MAIN board assy before it replace it, and 
paste it to the new MAIN board assy.
– State remove the rear cover
and rear plate (bottom) –

ABOUT  WORKING  OF  THE  BOARD  REPLACING
When replaced the MAIN board and SW board, be sure to carry 
out the following contents.
Note 1:
  The SW board cannot replace with single. Be sure to replace the 
MAIN board and the SW board simultaneously.
1. Advance 
preparation
To do the work, need the following tools.
Note 2:
  Confi rm the method of obtaining the tool to the each service head-
quarters.
Note 3:
  “yyyymmdd” of each fi les name represents the date of release.
Note 4:
  Each tools, use for the OS of Windows 7 or later.
Note 5:
  If you want to run the each tools, please close the SonicStage/x-
Application/Media Go etc. applications.
• Destination 
setting
Change_Destination_NWZX100_yyyymmdd.zip
• Initial 
setting
Color_Init_Setting_NWZX100_yyyymmdd.zip
•  Destination and supplied headphones identifi cation
Determination_HP_NWZX100_yyyymmdd.zip
•  NC gain setting
NC_gain_Setting_NWZX100_yyyymmdd.zip
Procedure:
1.  On PC, unzip the prepared tools.
2.  Copy the unzip folder to root directory of C drive on PC.
Note 6:
 The folder can be saved any drive as long as the folder path is 
with English (one byte character).
 
    Described with the example that “the folders were saved under 
root directory of C drive” on this service manual.
2. Working 
contents
Work according to the following order.
If the MAIN board and the SW board replaced simultaneously:
Destination setting (use for the “Destination setting” tool)

Initial setting (use for the “Initial setting” tool)

Confi rm settings (use for the “Destination and supplied head-
phones identifi cation” tool)
If the MAIN board is replaced alone:
NC parameter setting (use for the “NC gain setting” tool)
2-1. Destination setting
Perform the destination setting and the initial setting of the main 
unit simultaneously.
The settings by the supplied headphones, or the headphones sup-
plied or not are different. Please refer to “METHOD OF DISTIN-
GUISHING THE “WALKMAN” MAIN UNIT” on page 4 in ad-
vance.
Note 7:
 Contents those have been recorded in this unit all will be erased.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure to use the destination setting tool select the correct 
destination. It is a compliance violation to change the destination 
to other regions.
Used tool:
Change_Destination_NWZX100_yyyymmdd.zip
Procedure:
1.  Connect “WALKMAN” to PC.
 
(The power supply of “WALKMAN” is automatically turned 
on)
2.  Open the my computer window on PC, and confi rm  how 
“WALKMAN” is recognized on PC.
 
(In the following example, “WALKMAN” is recognized by 
MSC connection)
 
The check of the drive letter is necessary.
 
(At this example, it is “F”)
3. Confi rm the destination and the supplied headphone of this 
unit.
 
(Refer to “METHOD OF DISTINGUISHING THE “WALK-
MAN” MAIN UNIT” on page 4)
4.  From in the “Change_Destination_NWZX100_yyyymmdd” 
folder, copy the folder of specifi cations that you checked in 
step 3 to root directory of C drive on PC.
 
XX_EXHWM : for NW-ZX100HN
 
XX_NOHP  : for NW-ZX100
•  “XX” of represents destination.

5.  Start the command prompt application software, and move to 
the folder in which the destination setting tool which wants to 
write in is stored.
 
(In this example, “cd c:\CEW2_EXHWM” is inputted)
