Normally, those broadcasting stations with teletext send at least their own programming on several pages of text; in
some cases, information on the programming of other stations is also available.
Your television is able to scan these pages and extract the information needed to tell you what program is presently on
the screen, what program will follow, or the side page of the programming TXT of the station that you are watching.
The above operations require the following:
The system must be configured properly (see the relevant section).
The station that you are currently watching must be sending teletext data containing pages with information on the
programming of the stations stored in the programs PR 1, PR 2, PR 3 and PR 4.
To understand the operation of this system, the following points must be taken into account:
The information can only be captured starting from the station that is presently on the screen. That is why you must
view certain stations for several minutes before the data is available. Those stations that provide information only about
their own programming must be on the screen for a few moments before the data appears otherwise, you will be advised
that the data are not available.
On the other hand, when you are viewing stations whose teletext contains information about several stations, after a
few minutes you will find further information.
The information written on the screen consists, in reality, of fragments of the lines that appear in the teletext pages.
Therefore, it is normal to find occasional errors and spurious characters.
During the time the information is being captured (a few minutes, since generally several different teletext pages
must be captured), the data that you see written on the screen are not reliable. This is natural since the system can only
function properly after all the pages of data have been captured.
Example:
Select a program from
Pr 1 to Pr 4 and press
the
l
button two or
three times until the
menu is displayed
Note: If the time shown in the upper right-hand corner of this menu is not correct, reset it to the correct time (see the
Connection section of Special Functions).
In the case shown in the example, the error is due to the fact that the information captured corresponds to the last time
slot of the day (21.00 to 23.55h). The correct data will appear after a brief time interval, when the missing information is
received through the teletext.
Examples of operation:
Let’s assume you have stored the stations shown below in PR 1 through PR 4:
PR 1 .......... BBC1
PR 3 .......... ITV
PR 2 .......... BBC2
PR 4 .......... CH4
At the present time BBC1 and BBC2 transmit in their teletext pages the programming schedule of both BBC1, BBC2
and ITV. This means that whether we have selected PR 1 (BBC1) or PR 2 (BBC2), the television is able to capture
information on BBC1, BBC2 and ITV.
To obtain information on CH4, we must necessarily spend several minutes in PR 4, since none of the stations that we
have stored in the TV memory supplies information on that station.
Once the information has been captured, it remains in the memory and will not be lost until we turn off the TV or we
enter the tuning menu.
