Using the MX-PE12
This chapter describes how to use the MX-PE12.
Starting, shutting down, rebooting, and restarting the MX-PE12
Always use the following procedures to start, shut down, reboot, or restart the MX-PE12.
To start the MX-PE12
1 Make sure that the power switch on the MX-PE12 is set to ON (|), and then press the power button once to start
MX-PE12.

2 Wait while the MX-PE12 completes the startup sequence.
When the MX-PE12 is ready, the Fiery button in the menu screen on the printer touch panel becomes available.
If it has been enabled in Setup, the MX-PE12 Start page will also print automatically when the MX-PE12 is ready
for use.
Note: If the MX-PE12 does not start up within 10 minutes, see the Startup section of
“Table 1: Causes and solutions
when printer does not print”
on page 74.
To shut down the MX-PE12

Turn off the printer using the main power switch.
MX-PE12 will automatically shut down.
Important: Always verify that the MX-PE12 is not in use before you power off or restart it. Make sure that the
system is not processing or printing a job. Before you take the MX-PE12 off the network, always obtain
permission from the network administrator.
