FM ANTENNA
Select the FM antenna that best meets
your needs:
1. Connect the indoor dipole antenna
supplied with your TU940 to the
75 Ohm FM ANTENNA input
as
shown on the left page. This will work
well in a strong signal area, but it may
be necessary to change the position
of the antenna for the best reception
of your favorite stations. Make certain
that the half wave antenna is
extended to full length.
2. Other indoor antennas are available
from your dealer. They may improve
reception by offering greater
positioning flexibility.
3. If reception is unsatisfactory using
indoor antennas, disconnect it and
install an outdoor antenna as shown
. Use a 300/75 Ohm adapter if the
lead from the antenna is 300 Ohm
twin lead wire as shown on the left
page.
4. The FM 75 Ohm imput of the TU940
may also be connected to the FM
service of a cable antenna system.
AM ANTENNA
Connect the supplied AM loop antenna
to the terminals marked AM LOOP
ANTENNA
. For best reception, place
the antenna away from the unit as well
as from sources of RF emissions such
as a television or computer. It should
also be placed away from contact with
any metal object.
In areas where signals are weak, an
outdoor antenna may improve sound
and reception quality. Connect the
antenna as shown
making certain to
also connect a ground wire to the GND
terminals.
CONNECTION TO PREAMPLI-
FIER OR INTEGRATED AMPLI-
FIER
Using the cable provided, connect the
left and right OUTPUT sockets
on the
back of the TU940 to the tuner input on
your preamplifier or integrated amplifier.
Be certain to observe proper channel
connections using the color-coded
cables and connectors so that red
connects right channels and white
connects left channels. To avoid
possible damage to your speakers, be
certain to push each plug all the way
into its socket.
NOTE: Before making any audio
connections, unplug all components of
your audio system from their AC power
outlets. To reduce the possibility of hum
or noise in your system, place all audio
interconnection cables away from both
AC power cords and speaker wires.
REMOTE IN/OUT SOCKETS
Via the REMOTE IN/OUT sockets, it is
possible to control the UP/DOWN
tuning, BAND and PRESET functions
(and others, depending on the remote
control used) of the TU940 when used
with a Harman Kardon remote controlled
amplifier, even if the integrated Remote
Sensor (see label on the front side) of
the TU940 is covered. Connect the
REMOTE IN
of the TU940 to the
REMOTE OUT of another Harman
Kardon product. Use the remote
provided with the amplifier by pointing it
at the amplifier, not at the TU940. If you
have additional Harman Kardon
components, you may continue the
remote control connection by running a
wire from the TU940 REMOTE OUT to
the REMOTE IN of the next component
to be connected.
AC POWER CORD
Plug the POWER CORD
into an AC
mains outlet or into the switched AC
outlet on the rear of your amplifier.
