4-5. Density Adjustment for During Thermal Head Replacement

. Before replacing the thermal head, be sure to print a test pattern of gray (86 gray) as a reference of density.
. When performing the density adjustment, make sure that the auto fine print is turned off. For the setting
of the auto fine print, refer to the manual (Section 1 of this manual).

The required number of print here is only one in each time it is made.
Procedures
1.
Set the ribbon and paper (half size photo paper SVM-30SS).
2.
Tap the <MECHANIC TEST> icon on the menu.
3.
Tap the <PRINT GRAY> icon on the submenu, then the printing automatically starts.
4.
After the printing is completed, turn off the power.
5.
Replace the thermal head. (Refer to Section 3-6 for the replacement of thermal head.)

Before replacing the thermal head, record the resistance of the thermal head.
6.
Set the ribbon and paper (half size photo paper SVM-30SS).
7.
Tap the <PRINT DENSITY> icon on the menu of the service mode.
8.
Tap the icon of the adjustment value (R1 to R8) corresponding to the resistance of the new thermal
head according to the table below.

Press the PRINT key.

Although a step image is automatically printed, it is not used.
10. After the printing is completed, tap the mid-density (fourth from the top of the left column) of the
adjustment icon.
11. When you hear a beep sound, the screen goes back to the menu of the test mode.
12. Perform step 2 to 3 again.
13. Compare the density of the test patterns printed before (step 2) and after (step 10) replacement and
adjust the density so that they are equivalent in level.
. When adjusting to a darker level in density
Perform steps 6 to 9, then, in step 10, tap the one-level darker icon (top of the right column). To
adjust to an even darker level, repeat steps 6 to 9, then, in step 10, select an even darker icon.
. When adjusting to a lighter level in density
Perform steps 6 to 9, then, in step 10, tap the one-level lighter icon (third from the top of the left column).
To adjust to an even lighter level, repeat steps 6 to 9, then, in step 10, select an even lighter icon.
14. Perform step 10 again.
15. When you hear a beep sound, the adjustment is completed.
