Adding Effects to Your 
Voice
(MIC EFFECT)
You can use this function to give high or low 
effects to your voice, as you sing.

Press DISPLAY twice while 
playing a disc in karaoke mode 
(When playing a DATA CD/DATA 
DVD with MP3 files, press once).
The Control Menu appears.

• Octave up: To increase the pitch of your

Turning the Guide 
Melody On and Off 
(GUIDE 
MELODY)
You can listen to the guide melody, if 
available.

playing a disc in karaoke mode.
The Control Menu appears.

ENTER.
The options for “GUIDE MELODY” 
appear.

The default setting is underlined.
• OFF: To cancel the guide melody.
• ON: To turn on the guide melody.

Notes
• This function works only with the Dolby Digital 
Karaoke format.
• If no guide melody is recorded on the disc, you 
cannot hear the guide melody even if you turn it on.
Inserting the Applause 
Effect
(APPLAUSE)
 
 
 
 
 
When using the Karaoke function, you can 
insert applause with cheers.
Press APPLAUSE while playing a disc 
in karaoke mode.
Applause with cheers will sound each time 
you press the button.
Notes
• This effect may not work with some DVDs or 
during PBC playback of VIDEO CDs/Super 
VCDs.
• You will not be able to hear the applause effect 
from the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL or 
OPTICAL) jack.

Selecting the Score 
Mode
(SCORE)
 
 
 
 
 
You can select “SCORE MODE” when 
karaoke mode is “ON.” Your score is 
calculated by comparing your voice level 
with the actual music.

playing a DATA CD or DATA DVD 
with MP3 files, press once).
The Control Menu appears.

• EXPERT 1: Advanced or professional 
level. The score is displayed on the 
screen while singing.
• EXPERT 2: Advanced or professional 
level.
• BEGINNER 1: Beginner or 
Intermediate level. The score is 
displayed on the screen while singing.
• BEGINNER 2: Beginner or 
Intermediate level.
• DEMO: Demonstration mode.

Press SCORE before singing a 
song in karaoke mode.
The previous high score will be 
displayed.

Press SCORE again after singing 
for more than a minute to view 
your final score.
Hints
• While using the SCORE function, you can change 
the setting of ECHO (page 35) and MIC EFFECT 
(page 39). Press 
X repeatedly to enter the setting. 
Press 
C/c to select the desired level, then press 
ENTER.
• “SCORE MODE” returns to “EXPERT 1” 
(default) when the player enters standby mode.
• The SCORE function is calculated from 0 to 99.
Notes
• The high score is cleared when the player enters 
standby mode.
• The score calculating function may be cancelled 
by pressing certain buttons on the remote.
• Depending on the situation, you may not be able 
to use SCORE function.

You can check the playing time and 
remaining time of the current title, chapter, or 
track. Also, you can check the DVD/CD text, 
track name (MP3 audio), or file name (DivX 
video) recorded on the disc.
