The mechanical decks of MDS-W1, decks A and B, are completely the same. Their operation is controlled by the

system controllers on the main board (IC701 for deck A and IC901 for deck B); linked operation and the like
between the decks is done by means of communication between the system controllers.

The system controllers for decks A and B are completely the same, and deck selection is done by means of pin

83. The system controllers back up disc UTOC data on internal memory. If the power supply plug has been
unplugged before UTOC data has been recorded on a disc, the 3V lithium-manganese rechargeable battery (C111)
will supply “B. UP + 3.3V” voltage to the system controllers. When the charging battery is fully charged, UTOC
data can be retained for about one month.

Display/LED indicator and key-input detection is done using the master controller (IC801). The master controller

backs up to internal memory the DEMO mode status (ON/OFF), input source recording level setting, and other
settings and retains such data until the power supply cord is unplugged.
