Procedure: 
The procedure for upgrading the Sharpfind server from ZyImage version 4 to 
ZyImage version 5 involves uninstalling the old version application before 
installing version 5.  The steps to performing this upgrade are:

Stop the ZyTimer and ZyScan services 
2 
Backup the Data

UnInstall V4  
4 Install 
V5 
5 Install/Reserve 
licences 
6 
Install the OCR engine 
7 
Open Indices, Upgrade TOC’s, and build. 
8 
Setup Index Timers 
9 
Delete and Recreate the Websites 
10  Re-create Scan templates 
11  Install latest Service Pack 
12  Install and start Services 
13  Upgrade ZyFind on user workstations 
14 Test

This bulletin shows these steps in detail. 
 
 
 
1. 
Stopping the ZyScan and ZyTimer services
 
Before backing up the data, these services need to be stopped to ensure 
that the data does not change during the backup.  They also need to 
remain stopped during the un-install of ZyImage 4. 
 
2. 
Backing up the data
 
This should be done, following the customer’s standard backup 
procedure. 
 
3.  Uninstall ZyImage Version 4 
This can be done either by running ZySweeper.Exe in the 
C:\Program Files\ZyLab\ZyImage folder, or using the standard 
Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panels.  After ZyImage 
has been removed the ZyImage Professional OCR Engine should 
also be removed.
