MX-FNX4  OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION  5 – 7
F. Basic operation of saddle stitch unit (MX-
FNX4)
Feeding of paper
Paper fed from the finisher is stored into the paper path in virtually
vertical direction sequentially. The paper path is determined by the
operation of the two paper deflector plates depending on the size of
paper.
The storage location of paper is determined by the paper position-
ing plate so that the center of paper is aligned with the stitching and
folding positions.
The order of paper storage is as follows; the last fed paper is stored
in the delivery direction of the previously fed paper. Number of
sheets allowed to be stored is as shown below.
• 15 sheets (Max.: 14 sheets of 80g/m
2
 and a sheet of 250 g/m
2
)
maximally
Alignment
Whenever paper is stored into the vertical path, the alignment plate
equipped at the edge of the vertical path aligns paper. Furthermore,
it also carries out folding of paper stack and alignment before deliv-
ery.
Stitching
After all the paper is stored, the two stitch units located at the cen-
ter of the paper stitch the paper sequentially.
The two stitch units cannot be operated simultaneously so as to
prevent wrinkling of paper that may occur between the stitches and
to limit the load applied to the power supply.
If only one sheet of paper is fed from the copier, the next step, mov-
ing of stacks is started without stitching.
