The following seven modes are available when turning ON the power
(performing initial processing).

RESET mode

Turn ON the power while
pressing the ONLINE key
and PAPER FEED key.

The printer clears the preset
data/receive buffer and
starts operating.
Print out MRS printer status.

Set MRS switch ON and
turn ON the power.

starts operating.
Not print out MRS printer
status.

IPL mode

Set DIP SW 2-1 to IPL
mode and turn ON the
power while pressing the
ONLINE key and PAPER
FEED key.
IPL mode is entered when
the PAPER FEED key is set
to ON.

The printer clears the
application program area of
the flash ROM and receives
the application program
data from the PC via RS232.

RESUMPTION 
mode

Set MRS switch OFF and
turn ON the power.

The printer resumes the
printing interrupted by
power failure.

DIAG mode

Turn ON the power while
pressing the PAPER FEED
key.

The printer performs the
DIAG operation.

HEXADECIMAL
DUMP mode

Turn ON the power while
pressing the ONLINE key.
Release ONLINE key.
Press ONLINE key.

The printer prints the data
sent from the host
computer, using
hexadecimal digits and
characters corresponding to
them.

DEMO mode

Turn ON the power while
pressing the ONLINE key.
Release ONLINE key.
Press PAPER FEED key.

The printer prints the
demonstration data.

Ignore CTS
mode

Turn ON the power while
pressing the ONLINE key.
Press PAPER FEED key
before release ONLINE key.

The printer clears the preset
data/receive buffer and
starts operating.
The printer receives data
regardless CTS status.

Print: The DIP switch settings are printed.

 Print cut

Display:

The ONLINE lamp is turned ON when the printer sets
ready to receive data from the host computer.

Print: Nothing is printed.

However, if the power is turned ON in the IPL mode without
pressing any key, the following is printed.

For details, see the IPL detailed specification.

Print:

The printer resumes the printing interrupted by a power
failure.
When a power failure occurs during printing, performs
power failure mark “= = = = =” and executes the printing
again.
The power failure mark can be set in the [ESC] sequence. 

Display:

The ONLINE lamp is turned ON when the printer gets
ready to receive data from the host computer.

Printer prints "DEMO" and several pattern of character lines.

Others:

If only the IPL program is in the flash ROM (the application
program does not exist there), the following display is
produced.

That causes the ONLINE lamp and ERROR lamp to blink
at the same time.
