9. FITTING HARD DRIVE TO UP5700 / 5300
The following configuration must be carried out when installing hard disk drives on
the UP5300 / UP5700.

SET DIP SWITCHES 4 AND 5 ON
When then new hard disk is fitted power on and from the

Run FDISK and
Choose option

1. Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive
Choose option
1. Create Primary DOS Partition
When prompted with
Do you wish to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS Partition and
make the partition active (Y/N)…………………………….? [N]

Say NO
Set the size to 2000 when prompted.
Enter a partition size in Mbytes or percent of disk space (%) to create a Primary DOS
Partition………………………………………..[2000]
Partition………………………………………..[2000]
This will then set the size to be 2001 this is correct and press escape to continue
Then select
2. Set the Active Partition
2. Set the Active Partition
Then when prompted to enter then number of the partition to make active press 1
and ENTER
and ENTER
press escape to continue
Then Press escape again to exit Fdisk
The POS will reboot
From the A: prompt
Type format c:
