Enter the product code which is the unique identifier for this product, up to eight digits.  The
last digit (0-9) will be used by the system to determine whether this product is a modified item.
Where the last digit is zero (0), the product is not used with a modifier key.  If the last digit is
1-9, the number will correspond to the appropriate modifier key.  For example, to sell the
product using modifier key 3, the last digit of the product code must be 3.

The maximum number of products is unlimited on the UP5700. The Max is determined by the Disk
size

Enter a description for the product, up to fifteen characters.  The description is displayed in
other maintenance functions when the product code is entered and also on the terminals when
the item is sold.  The only exception to this is if the product description is changed on a list
menu.

Enter a numeric code which will be used to identify this product at each terminal.  A product
may have more than one barcodes assigned to it, or none at all.  The code will normally be the
EAN number of the product’s barcode.  These numbers are usually 13 or 8 digits long, and
include a check digit, although up to 14 characters may be entered.  If less than 14 characters
are entered, the system will fill the remaining digits with zeros.  The system will also warn you
if the check digit is invalid.

If the barcode does not already exist on the barcode file, the system will automatically create a new
record on the barcode file.  If the barcode exists, but is already assigned to another product on the
product file, a warning will be given.  Press any key to continue.

The system will display the modifier code according to the product code you have entered.  A
modifier description is displayed for non-zero modifiers.  This field cannot be changed.  To
change the modifier code, you must enter a different product code before saving the new
product.

Enter a valid code to specify the department of the product.  The department name is displayed.
The department is used to classify products for sales analysis reporting.  Please note that the
department code must be assigned to a group before you can allocate a product to the department.

Department number zero may be used for items which do not require a department, for example,
qualifiers.

Enter the code to indicate the VAT rate (A-F) for this product.  The VAT rate codes are set up
in System Parameters.

Price Level 1 - 4: Up to four different selling prices may be entered for the item.  For example, Price 1 may be

the regular selling price, Price 2 and 3 may be the Happy Hour selling prices, and Price 4 may
be the VIP price.  The price the terminal will implement depends upon the price level set in the
Special Prices and Till Parameters functions.

The price level the system will implement is identified at server entry and will not change until the
next time a server number is entered.  For example, if a Happy Hour is currently running, the Happy
Hour price band will be in use.  However, if the Happy Hour period ends during the transaction entry
the normal prices will be reinstated when the next server signs on, not in the middle of the Happy
Hour transaction.

This flag is used to enable or disable an item or subtotal discount on the product.  Press the
SPACEBAR to set the discountable flag to YES or NO.  Press ENTER to confirm the selection
and move onto the next field.

Enter the code, 1-50, which identifies the commission group to which the product is assigned.
A zero may be entered in this field, to indicate that this product is not assigned to any commission
group. (Not Available at present)
