S. SYNC REC: Recording starts automatically with sound input.

Select one of the above recording types using the jog dial. Then, press the
ENTER button.

. Creating track numbers.
If you have selected “S.SYNC REC”, the auto mark function will be activated and a
new track number will be created if the sound stops for 3 seconds or more. If you
have selected “MANUAL REC”, a new track number can be created by pressing the
CDR REC button at the desired point. The auto mark function can also be activated
by pressing the AUTO MARKER button.

When “S. SYNC REC” is selected, pressing the

 button is unnecessary.
To mark track numbers whilst recording from the connected equip-
ment on the CD-R or CD-RW discs:
Press the CDR REC button during recording. The track number will be marked and the
displayed number will be increased by one.
Recording CD, CD-R or CD-RW signal on
MDs (digital output)
The digital signal from this unit can be recorded by MiniDisc recorders, etc.

. Remove the DIGITAL OUT socket cover.

. Use a connection cable for digital recording to connect the unit to the OPTICAL IN
socket of a MiniDisc recorder, etc.

. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.

. Put the MiniDisc recorder, etc. in the recording mode.
5
. Play a CD, CD-R or CD-RW disc on this unit.
Headphones
Before plugging in or unplugging the headphones, reduce the volume.
Be sure your headphones have a 3.5 mm (1/8") diameter plug and are between 16
ohms and 50 ohms impedance. The recommended impedance is 32 ohms.
Plugging in the headphones disconnects the speakers automatically. Adjust the
volume using the VOLUME buttons.
Listening to the playback sounds from the
connected equipment

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN socket.

. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.

. Press the AUX button to select “AUX”, “PHONO” or “AUX OPT.”.

. Play the connected equipment.

. If you have selected “AUX”, adjust the input level using the

The “OVER” indicator should not light at the maximum level.
You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the PHONO
or DIGITAL IN socket.
Recording on a tape

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN socket.

. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.

. Insert the cassette in the compartment.

. Press the AUX button to select “AUX”, “PHONO” or “AUX OPT.”.

. Play the connected equipment.

. If you have selected “AUX”, adjust the input level using the

You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the PHONO or

Recording on a CD-R disc

. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN, PHONO or DIGITAL IN
socket.

. Press the CD-R/CD-RW eject button to open the tray.

. Place the CD-R or CD-RW disc on the tray. Close the tray.
