Choose the installation loc ation carefully so that the 
unit will not interfere with normal driving operations.
Avoid installing the unit in areas subject to dust,  dirt, 
excessive vibration, or high temperature, such as in 
direct sunlight or near heater ducts.
Use only the supplied mounting har dware for a saf e 
and secur e installation.
To move the fr ont panel smoothly, to insert/eject a 
disc easily, and especially to drive saf ely, keep an 
adequate distanc e between the fr ont panel and the 
shift lever. The ne cessar y distance diff ers, depending 
on the shift lever position of your  car. Before 
installing the unit, choose the installation loc ation 
carefully so that you c an drive saf ely. 

Adjust the mounting angle to les s than 45°.

XAV-602BT is the model used f or illustration purposes,  
unless other wise noted.

Be sur e to connect the parking brake lead (light green) 
of the power supply c onnection cable 

 to the 

parking brake switch  cord.

To capture your voice during handsfr ee calling, you 
need to install the microphone 

.

Keep the microphone aw ay from e xtremely high 
temperatures and humidity .
It is extremely danger ous if the  cord becomes 
wound ar ound the steering c olumn or gearstick.  Be 
sure to keep it and other parts fr om obstructing your 
driving.
If airbags or any other shock -absorbing equipment 
is in your car, contact the store where you purchased 
this unit, or the car deale r, before installation.

Before attaching the double-sided tape 

, clean the sur face of the 

dashboar d with a dr y cloth.
Adjust the microphone angle to the pr oper position.

Before detaching the fr ont panel, press and hold OFF 
for more than 2 sec onds to turn off the unit.  Press 

,

and then hold the left side of the fr ont panel and pull 
it open to the right.

Tip
If you also lift the left side of the fr ont panel slightly 

, the front 

panel comes out easily .

Place the recesses 

 of the front panel onto the pegs 

 on the unit, then lightly push the left side in.

Caution
Handle the bracket 

 carefully to avoid injuring your 

fingers.

Note
The form of the frame and loc ation of the catch may diff er depending 
on the model.

Note
If the catches ar e straight or bent outw ards, the unit will not be 
installed securely and may spring out.

You may be able to install this unit in some mak es of 
Japanese c ars without the supplied br acket. If you 
cannot, consult your Sony dealer .

When mounting this unit to the pr einstalled brackets 
of your car, use the supplied scr ews 

 in the 

appropriate screw holes,  based on your c ar: T for 
TOYOTA, M for MITSUBISHI and N f or NISSAN.

To avoid a malfunction,  install only with the supplied screws 

.

Do not apply excessive force to the buttons of the unit.
Do not press on the  LCD.
Before mounting, mak e sure there is nothing on the top of the unit.

Be sur e to set the Auto OFF function.  For details, refer 
to the supplied “Operating Instructions.”
The unit will shut off c ompletely and automatic ally in 
the set time when no sour ce is selected , which 
prevents batter y drainage .
If the Auto OFF function has not been set,  press and 
hold OFF until the display disappears each time you 
turn the ignition off.

When the installation and c onnections ar e completed, 
be sure to press the reset button, which is located 
behind the front panel, with a ballpoint pen, etc.

When r eplacing the fuse , be sure to use one matching 
the amper age  rating stated on the original fuse . If the 
fuse blows,  check the power c onnection and replace 
the fuse . If the fuse blows again after r eplacement,  
there may be an internal malfunction.  In such a c ase , 
consult your near est Sony dealer .
