If any of the following parts was replaced, perform the “IOP Check” 
and “E, F Signal Offset Adjustments” as mentioned below.
Note:  In this set, the SERVO board where the E, F SIGNAL OFFSET 
ADJUSTMENT circuit has not mounted exists.
 
The SERVO board where the E, F SIGNAL OFFSET ADJUST-
MENT circuit has not mounted should not execute the E, F SIG-
NAL OFFSET ADJUSTMENT. 
 
Refer to “ABOUT THE SERVO BOARD E, F SIGNAL OFFSET 
ADJUSTMENT CIRCUIT DELETION” (page 4) in servicing 
notes for how to distinguish the set.

Precaution
Use the following tools and measuring devices.
•   Extension jig (Part No. J-2502-107-1) between the SERVO 
board and the MAIN board
•  DVD test disc TDV-540C (Part No. J-2501-235-A)
•  CD test disc PATD-012 (Part No. 4-225-203-01)
•   Driver for adjustment
• TV

• Digital

• Oscilloscope
•  Accessory remote commander

Procedure:
1.  Check the IOP value of DVD and CD by label on the optical 
pick-up.

2.  Connect a digital voltmeter to TP51 (IOPDVD) and TP63 
(A3.3V) on the SERVO board.
3.  Playback the DVD test disc (TDV-540C), and make a note of 
the value of digital voltmeter.
4.  Divide the measured voltage value by 1, and convert it into 
current value.
5.  Check that the calculated value is within ±6 mA to the IOP 
value given on the label.
6.  Connect a digital voltmeter to TP47 (IOPCD) and TP63 
(A3.3V) on the SERVO board.
7.  Playback the CD test disc (PATD-012), and make a note of the 
value of digital voltmeter.
8.  Divide the measured voltage value by 1, and convert it into 
current value.

ELECTRICAL  ADJUSTMENTS

9.  Check that the calculated value is within ±6 mA to the IOP 
value given on the label.
[E,  F  SIGNAL  OFFSET  ADJUSTMENTS]

Procedure:
1.  Connect an oscilloscope to TP58 (E) and TP45 (OPGND) on 
the SERVO board.
2.  Connect a TV moniter to VIDEO OUT jack of the set.
3.  Insert the CD test disc (PATD-012).
4.  Detach the front panel of the set.
5.  Press the [RESET] button of the set in the state of chucking.
6.  Attach the front panel of the set.
7.  Escape the setup of the set (It becomes a clock display).
8.  In the standby status, press the [4] key of the set or the remote 
commander.
9.  Press the [5] key of the set or the remote commander.
10. Press the [DSPL] key of the set or the remote commander for 
more than two seconds.
11. When the test mode activated, it is display in the TV monitor 
as shown in the fi gure below.
12. Press the [7] key of the remote commander.
13.  Adjust the RV2 on the SERVO board so that waveform level of 
oscilloscope becomes between 2.65 and 2.70 V as follows.

level: 2.65 to 2.70 Vp-p
E Signal Waveform:
14. Connect an oscilloscope to TP57 (F) and TP45 (OPGND) on 
the SERVO board.
15.  Adjust the RV1 on the SERVO board so that waveform level of 
oscilloscope becomes between 2.65 and 2.70 V as follows.
level: 2.65 to 2.70 Vp-p

16. Press the [9] button on the remote commander to stop the CD 
test disc.
Note:  When you feel the doubt in the operation of the test mode in each 
adjustment and check item, enter the test mode again once after 
pressing the [RESET] button of the set.
