  Overview of MD Editor
********************************************************************************
・
MD Editor is the application software which can control both SONY’s MD deck and
CD player loading CONTROL A-1 terminal.
・
It is possible to operate MD deck on the PC screen (MD window of MD Editor) by
connecting PC with MD deck which corresponds to MD Editor using CAV-50C.
・
In addition, it is possible to operate CD player on the PC screen (MD window of MD
Editor) by connecting MD deck and CD player which compatibles with MD Editor.
*
The CD window of MD Editor cannot be opened in the case that MD deck is not
connected even if PC and CD player are connected. Therefore, CD player is not
operable.

Inquires: Q&A
********************************************************************************
  General for connections  】
Q) Is the longer type of cable for CONROL A1 available?
A) Yes. We recommend the cable with monaural mini-plug, within 2 meters (6.6 feet).
1.5m (Supplied),    RK-G69 : 2m (Not supplied),    RK-G34 : 3m (Not supplied)

  Connecting with CD  】
Q) Can I record from CD-ROM drive of PC onto MD deck?
A) I’m afraid you can’t. CONTROL A1 does not perform the audio data communication.
The CD-ROM drive of the personal computer is used only when MD Editor is installed.
3
  Connecting with MD  】

Q) Is it possible to record when PC is connected with more than 2 MD decks loading
CONTROL A-1?
A) Only one MD deck is available.

Q) There is no sound form speakers of PC when MD deck and PC are connected using
CAV-50C and the CONTROL A1 cable.
A) CONTROL A1 does not perform the audio data communication. Sound does not come
out by the CONTROL A1 connection only.

  Proposals for sounding from PC speakers  >
・
It is necessary for the customer to prepare apparatuses for connection as follows;
1) The personal computer which has the audio signal input terminal or the expansion
card.
2) The connection cords to connect the audio signal input terminal (above-mentioned)
with the audio output (LINE OUT or Digital OUT) of MD deck.
3) Windows application to output the signal inputted into PC’s audio signal from
speakers.
*
These connections vary depending on the customers’ computer environment so that
proposals above-mentioned are just reference.
*
These connections are carried out by users’ responsibilities and SONY shall not be
responsible for any support or damage.
  【 CD Window 】
Q) CD Window of MD Editor cannot be opened.
A) You cannot open the CD Window connecting with other makers’ CD players. Only
SONY’s CD player which is loading CONTROL A1 terminal enables to open CD Window
(See CD players compatible with MD Editor).
Turn on the CD player. Otherwise you cannot open CD Window even if the connections
above are completed.
4
Q) CD can be played on the CD Window but there is no indication in the NAME column
of CD Window.
A) Execute “Reload” in the “Option” menu when you open the CD Window at the first
time.
Also execute “Reload” when you exchange Compact Discs in the CD player.
Once “Reload” is executed, the text information in the case of the CD-TEXT disc, and
the track number in the other case, appears in the NAME column.
Q) NAMEs which were inputted in the CD Window are deleted after clicking “Reload”.
A) Once “Reload” is executed, the text information in the case of the CD-TEXT disc, and
the track number in the other cases, appears in the NAME column.
Therefore, if you “Reload” after exchanging discs in the CD player, NAMEs which were
labeled onto the discs before exchanging are deleted.
Q) How the system record the NAMEs labeled on CD Window?
A) The database for MD Editor only is created. However, the contents of this database is
temporary.
The system does not indicate the inputted NAMEs detecting their CD code
automatically whenever exchanging the discs.
