8. Each time the [EQ] knob is pressed, the message “EQ MIN”,
“EQ FLAT” or “EQ MAX” is displayed in this order on the
liquid crystal display.
9. To release from this mode, press the

button to turn the
power off.
TAPE  TEST
This mode is used to check the recoding operation.
Procedure:
1. Press the
I
/1
button to turn the power on.
2. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [DISC SELECT 2] button and
turn the [VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
3. The message “TAPE TEST” is displayed on the liquid crystal
display.
4. Input audio signal from the MD (AUX) jack (JK602).
5. Press the [REC PAUSE/START] button to start recording.
6. When the
x
button is pressed during recording, the tape is
rewound back to the beginning of recording, then playback
starts.
7. To release from this mode, press the
I
/1
button to turn the
power off.
PANEL TEST
This mode is used to check the liquid crystal display, micro computer
software version, model destination, panel key and jog dial.
Procedure:
1. Press the
I
/1
button to turn the power on.
2. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [DISC SELECT 5] button and
turn the [VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
3. All segments of liquid crystal display are turned ON.
4. Press two buttons of [ENTER] and [EJECT] simultaneously.
The software version of micro computer is displayed.

5. Press two buttons of [ENTER] and [EJECT] simultaneously.
The model name and destination is displayed.

6. Press two buttons of [ENTER] and [EJECT] simultaneously.
The message “KEY  0  0” is displayed on the liquid crystal
display. Each time button is pressed, the number shown in the
following figure is displayed.

COLD  RESET
The cold reset clears all data including preset data stored in the
RAM to initial conditions. Execute this mode when returning the
set to the customer.
Procedure:
1. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [DISC SELECT 1] button and
turn the [VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
2. The liquid crystal display becomes blank for a while, and the
set is reset, then becomes demonstration mode.
SHIP  MODE
This mode moves the optical pick-up to the position durable to
vibration. Use this mode when returning the set to the customer
after repair.
Procedure:
1. Press the
I
/1
button to turn the power on.
2. Press the [FUNCTION] button to select “CD”.
3. Eject the all disk.
4. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [FUNCTION] button and turn
the [VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
5. The message “MECHA LOCK” is displayed on the liquid
crystal display and the ship mode is set, then becomes power
off.
6. After the step 4, pull out the AC cord.
7. Then turn the power on, mecha initialization is performed
again.
COLD RESET AND SHIP  MODE
This mode performs “COLD RESET” and “SHIP MODE” at the
same time.
Procedure:
1. Eject the all disc.
2. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [DISC SELECT 3] button and
turn the [VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
3. The message “MECHA LOCK” is displayed on the liquid
crystal display and the ship mode is set, then becomes power
off.
4. Then the liquid crystal display becomes blank for a while, and
the set is reset.
5. After the step 4, pull out the AC cord.
6. Then turn the power on, mecha initialization is performed
again.
AMP  TEST
This mode is used to check the function of the amplifier.
Procedure:
1. Press the
I
/1
button to turn the power on.
2. While pressing the  
x
  , press the [i-BASS] button and turn the
[VOLUME] knob in the clock wise.
3. The message “AMP TEST” is displayed on the liquid crystal
display.
4. When the [VOLUME]  knob is turned counter-clockwise, the
message “VOLUME MIN” is displayed on the liquid crystal
display.
When the [VOLUME] knob is turned clockwise. The message
“VOLUME 16” is displayed on the liquid crystal display.
When the [VOLUME]  knob is turned clockwise again. The
message “VOLUME MAX” is displayed on the liquid crystal
display.
5. Each time the [TREBLE] knob is turned, the message “TREBLE
MIN”, “TREBLE FLAT” or “TREBLE MAX” is displayed
in this order on the liquid crystal display.
6. Each time the [MIDDLE] knob is turned, the message “MIDDLE
MIN”, “MIDDLE FLAT” or “MIDDLE MAX” is displayed
in this order on the liquid crystal display.
7. Each time the [BASS]  knob is turned, the message “BASS
MIN”, “BASS FLAT” or “BASS MAX” is displayed in this
order on the liquid crystal display.
