Service Tool - Reprogramming the NVM
REASON
A service tool has been introduced to assist in reprogramming the NVM.  This tool will
enable the engineer to reprogram the NVM, even if the set does not turn on (provided
that there is a 5V supply to the microprocessor, NVM and OTP).
Typical fault symptoms if the NVM is damaged include problems with the picture,
teletext or sound.
ACTION
To reprogram the NVM, proceed as follows:
1.  Replace IC1002 (OTP) with the service jig.
2.  Turn on the television.  Note that the set will appear to be dead with both LED's
illuminated.
3.  Wait until the blanking process is complete.  During the blanking process, the
NICAM will flash ten times, stop, then flash ten times again.  This process will
continue indefinitely.  The NVM will be blanked when the LED stops flashing for the
first time (this may take up to 50 seconds after turning the set on).
4.  Switch off the set at the mains.
5.  Refit the original OTP.  It is important to ensure that the OTP contains the latest
version of software for the combination of model, CRT and Megatext IC (see
technical bulletin CTV2001 05 04).
6.  Switch on, the set will appear to be dead with both LED on for about the first 30 to
60 seconds while the NVM is being programmed.  If the set is turned off during this
period, it will be necessary to repeat this procedure from step 1.  Once the NVM
programming is complete the set will start up automatically.
7.  Adjust the tuning, grey scale, AGC, AFT and picture geometry a necessary.
