SYMPTOM Various problems – servicing tip.
CAUSE
Type of software used in the CS Pro-Logic model is fundamentally different to that
used in other CS models.
used in other CS models.
ACTION
As the CSD8H models use more complex software (contained in the EEPROM) than
other CS chassis, when a fault occurs, the symptoms are totally different making it
difficult to fault find.
other CS chassis, when a fault occurs, the symptoms are totally different making it
difficult to fault find.
In order to get round this it is possible to totally unplug the Dolby PWB and replace the
NVM (IC1002) and EEPROM (IC1004) with software from a xxCS03H model. The set
will then run as a CS03H and the fault will become more recognisable.

Note that changing the NVM prevents the original from being re-written. It is best to
refit this after the repair is complete to avoid having to reset such adjustments as the
PLL, AGC, geometry, colour balance, etc.
