b) The following describes the procedure for replacing the old HDD when the data stored in
the HDD can be backed up.

HDD when the data stored in the HDD can be
backed up.
When using the used HDD (used by the same
model)*
(1) Back up the data stored in the old HDD. (Support by serviceman)
Back up the following data to USB memory by using Sim56-2 or to your PC via device cloning:
Data that can be backed up: Address book, image send registration data, and user authentication
(2) Back up the data stored in the old HDD. (Support by user or serviceman)
Back up the following data to your PC via operation on a Web page:
Data that can be backed up: Document filing data, JOB LOG, input profile (printer)
This is the end of data backup.
(3) Install the HDD on the copier/printer
machine and then turn on the machine.

Automatic format starts.
(3) Install the HDD on the copier/printer
machine and then turn on the machine.
(4) Trouble code "U2-05" appears.   Release
this code by using
 Sim16.
(4) Trouble code "U2-05" appears.
 Release
this code by using Sim16.
(5) The blank HDD need not be formatted by
using Sim because it is automatically
formatted.
(5) Initialize the data stored in the HDD by using
Sim62-1.
Initialize the instruction manual storage area
by using Sim62-13.
(6) Execute Sim66-10 to clear FAX image memory.Clear FAX image memory to coordinate HDD data
with image-related memory, thereby preventing a malfunction.(Besides the FAX model, models
that use a scanner and IFAX also need memory clear.)
(7) Reinstall e-instruction manual data.Install instruction manual data on the HDD by using Sim49-
3.
(Use USB memory. The details are given later.)
(8) Import data from USB memory.
Import data by using Sim56-2 (For data backup to your PC via device cloning, import data from a
Web page.)
Data that can be imported: Address book, image send registration data, user authentication
(9) Import data from your PC via operation on a Web page.
Data that can be imported: Document filing data, input profile (printer), output profile (printer), user
font, user macro
(JOB LOG can be backed up but cannot be imported.)

This is the end of HDD replacement.

2. Procedure for Reinstalling (Updating) Instruction Manual Data Stored in HDD
[Procedure]
Download instruction manual data by using the Web site (Tech-DS homepage)
utility.
Upload the downloaded data to the copier/printer machine by using the USB
memory device. (For details, see Sim49-3.)
At this time, copy data to the USB memory device as is without changing the
hierarchy of the downloaded files.
(Besides instruction manual data (**.pdf), uploading to the copier/printer requires
xxx_pdf_fax.idx, xxx_pdf.idx, and version.txt.)

If data already exists in the HDD when data is uploaded from USB memory to the
HDD, the files in USB memory are compared with the files in the HDD and only the
files meeting the following conditions are written to the HDD:
- The file sizes differ.
- The timestamps differ.
- Files exist only on USB memory.
- This operation updates and adds files to the HDD but does not delete them. For
this reason, if the contents of the files in the HDD are unknown, format the
instruction manual area (Sim62-13) before updating instruction manual data.
