TECHNICAL BULLETIN
SUPPORT FOR REVISION OF WIRELESS
STANDARDS IN EUROPE

1. Model Name:
MX-EB13 only for Europe/Australia

   (Option for MX-2310U/3111U, MX-2610N/3110N/3610N, MX-2314N/2614N/3114N,

    MX-4112N/5112N, MX-M364N/M464N/M564N, MX-M264N/M314N/M354N,

    MX-M264NR/M314NR/M354NR/M264NV)

2. Description:
Concerning USB wireless LAN adaptor (MX-EB13), the specification has been changed

to support Wireless Standards in Europe (ETSI R&TTE EN 300 328 V1.8.1) that is
  revised.

(Only
for
Europe/Australia)

Since the output of the radio wave has been reduced than the conventional adaptor to

support the new standards, the normal operating range becomes narrow.

The distance between the master and slave units which stably can communicate has

been narrowed to approx. 20 metres while it was approx. 30 metres with the conventional
adaptor.

(The actual communication distance is influenced by the extraneous factors such as the

obstruction and radio wave environment etc.)

The guideline of the distance between MFP with MX-EB13 installed and the wireless

access point (or ad-hoc terminal) is within 20 metres though it depends on the
environment of
  usage.

Note) The radio field intensity displayed on MFP (indicated in red in Fig. below) is the

radio field intensity (Reception Level) of the access point and even if the equivalent

level of radio field intensity (Reception Level) to the conventional adaptor is

displayed when connecting the new device, the connection may be bad compared

with the conventional wireless LAN adaptor as the transmission output becomes

          weak.
