[4] OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTIONS
1. Paper feed operation
* Paper feed from the tray 2
1)
Feeding of the first sheet is started. Paper is transported at the
high speed.
2)
The speed is reduced to the process speed before reaching
90mm from D1PPD.
3)
Feeding of the second sheet is started. Since the first sheet is
covering the main unit and the 1-stage paper feed unit, the
second sheet is transported at the process speed.
4)
When the paper rear edge turns off D1PPD, the transport
motor is accelerated to transport the next paper at a high
speed.
5)
When the next paper turns on D1PPD, the paper interval with
the previous paper is detected.
6)
According to the paper interval with the previous paper, the
timing of speed reduction is varied to adjust the paper interval.
However, speed reduction must be completed before reaching
90mm from D1PPD.
When feeding paper from the other tray, the operations are per-
formed in the same manner. That is, when the rear edge of the
paper turns off D1PPD, the transport motor is accelerated, and
when the next paper turns on D1PPD, the transport motor is decel-
erated at the proper timing.
2. Paper empty detection
When the rotation plate lifts and stops at the paper feed enable
position, paper empty in the tray is detected during paper feed
operation by the paper empty detector (D1PED).
