TECHNICAL BULLETIN
TREATMENT FOR F2-6* TROUBLE CODE
*Regarding the T/R No. CCE-995 "TREATMENT FOR F2-6* TROUBLE CODE" released
on January 31, 2012, the "Treatment" on page 2 has been revised.

2. Symptom:
F2-6* trouble code may appear after replacement of toner cartridge.
3. Cause:
If the toner cartridges are transported vertically with the toner supply hole faced down on
the floor, vibration gets toner compressed around the pipe area of the supply hole, unable
to be supplied and causing this F2-6* trouble.
(Note)
If the F2-6* (failure to drop toner on DV) error is generated at main unit, the F2 error
won't be fixed by decreasing the torque on the cartridge.
The example of factor of F2-6* that can be generated at main unit:
- Abnormality in the drive section of toner cartridge
- Clogged toner transport pipe
- DV ATC

[Treatment]
Step 1) Check if there is anything abnormal (e.g., damage and deformation) on the gear.
・If some abnormality is found on gear, ⇒ Replace with a new cartridge.
・If no abnormality is found on gear, ⇒ Proceed to the step 2).
Step 2) Shake the cartridge (with F2 error) five times vertically facing the gear section upward.
Use both hands because the cartridge for MX-3500/4100/4500/5000 series is heavy.
Step 3) Install the cartridge into the main unit and see if the F2 error is cleared.
[Caution]
Do not shake the cartridge facing the gear section downward.
Be careful toner may drop out of shutter section.
Please instruct your client to store the toner cartridge in proper position during the machine
installation or while visiting the client. If the cartridge is stored in vertical orientation, instruct him/her
to store in proper orientation.

Dislocated D-cut on gear
Removed gear pawl
Shake the cartridge five times vertically.

To Customers,
Before installing a new toner cartridge to the copier machine, please do the following procedure.
Your kind understanding is much appreciated.
Request at Toner Cartridge Replacement
(1) Shake the box containing the cartridge up and down 5 times
(2) Hold the box upside down and shake it 5 more times or so.
(3) Take the cartridge out of box and shake it from side to side 5 times
or so before installing it to the copier machine.
(4)Install it to the copier machine.
