Failure of SCAN IN PWB

Cause of occurrence
Coating is applied on the surface
of the IC chip when manufacturing
the IC as in the diagram on the
right. It was revealed that the
thickness of the coating of some
ICs was thicker than usual. If the
coating is thick, the coating itself
absorbs moisture. If the IC is
energized in such a state, the IC
chip and the resin mold come
apart, which leads to the failure of
the IC.
