2. Description

Using thin moist paper may cause a winding jam to occur in the fusing upper heat roller.
To prevent this winding jam from occurring, we increased the fusing jam level by changing
the upper separate pawl from noncontact type to contact type. Despite this attempt, in rare
cases, the heat roller is damaged. We have changed the tip shape of the upper separate
pawl and coating as further remedial measure.
For information about how to mount a new upper separate pawl, see the accompanying
material.
We will also change the upper separate pawl included in the upper heat roller kit (MX-
450UH) to contact type. In addition, we will enclose a separate pawl upper spring in the
upper heat roller kit from this time onward because the upper spring must also be
replaced at the same time.
