Connecting an Extension Phone
Important
Use an extension phone that has a modular socket.
If the phone cord has a special type of plug, consult your dealer or nearest Sharp customer
assistance centre.
1
Connect your telephone and the TEL socket on the adapter.
Insert the plug firmly until you hear a "click".
When connecting the extension telephone, do not use the TEL socket on the machine.
Instead, use the TEL socket on the adapter supplied with the facsimile expansion kit.
2
Enable the extension phone connection with the key operator
program. (See page 148)
Be sure to enable the extension phone connection setting with the key operator program.
If this is not done, the extension phone cannot be used even if connected.
Using an Extension Phone
Using the phone for voice calls
The extension phone can be used to place and receive voice calls just like a normal phone.
If the machine is set to auto reception, you must lift the phone to answer a call before the machine
automatically begins reception.
The machine is initially set to answer calls on two rings. You can change the number of rings to any
number from 0 to 9 with the key operator program. (See page 157)
If you cannot hear a dial tone when you pick up the extension phone, the machine is sending or
receiving a fax. Replace the phone.
