Correct Installation
Incorrect Installation
The rib is correctly located in the slot
The rib is almost completely out of the slot
As the staple cartridge is not correctly installed, a slight shock, as might occur during installation
of the staple unit into the ARFN7, will cause the staple cartridge to dislodge. Because the stapler itself is
not at the initial position (Condition 1.) the stapler will try to return to the initial position when powered on.
As the staple cartridge is dislodged, when the stapler tries to staple sheets, the staple actuator will hit the
metal spigot (shown at B below) instead of the staples.

As the staple cartridge is dislodged, when the stapler tries to staple sheets, the staple actuator will hit the
metal spigot (shown at B below) instead of the staples.
This will not only damage the staple cartridge but also exert a large load on the stapler cam resulting in the
damage shown to the resin parts shown at the beginning of this bulletin.
