There was a possibility of soiling of the back side of the copy paper caused by toner falling
from the upper section of the transfer waste toner tank. As a measure to alleviate this
problem, a change has been carried out in the construction of the toner receiving section
of the waste toner tank unit.
[Cause].
The silicon oil that is on the surface of the transfer belt is absorbed by the toner on the
edge of the cleaning blade. Instead of dropping into the waste toner tank, the toner falls
from the leading edge of the cleaning blade and builds up on the toner receiving seal.
When the toner on the toner receiving seal builds up too much, it falls into the B5 tray
where it accumulates.

As described in the figure shown above, a toner receiving plate has been provided with an
opening section A so that the built up toner can fall down into the waste toner tank. A
cover has also been provided above the opening section as a means of preventing the
toner from spouting up and scattering. The holder section of the cover has been designed
in a concave shape which helps prevent any toner that might have risen up over it from
falling. (The toner accumulates in section B.)
The waste toner tank unit has been established as a service part, and from now on the
waste toner tank will be supplied as a unit.

Action has been carried out from 2000 May production.

[Note for servicing]
The toner reception BLT of an old-type waste toner tank unit is currently discontinued and is not supplied as a
service part. When replacing the toner reception BLT of an old-type waste toner tank unit (April 2002
production or before) in the market, use a new-type waste toner tank unit or replace with the toner reception
BLT (UCLEZ0161FCZZ) used in a new-type waste toner tank unit and replace with the toner reception holder
(LHLDZ1450FCZZ) and the toner reception Mylar (PSHEP4821FCZZ) at the same time.

(Replacement procedure of toner reception BLT of old-type toner tank unit)

1.  Remove three screws (No. 2 in the figure below) on the toner reception BLT, and remove the toner

reception BLT (No. 1 in the figure below) from the waste toner tank.
Note: The old-type toner reception BLT is fixed to the waste toner tank with duplex tape.
After removing the toner reception BLT, therefore, clean the surface and remove the tape dirt.

2.  Attach the toner reception Mylar (No. 12 in the figure below) to the toner reception holder

(No. 13 in the figure below).

Toner reception Mylar attachment reference: Use the rear frame side of the toner reception holder as the
attachment reference.

3. Attach the toner reception BLT to the waste toner tank.

4. Attach the toner reception holder (with the toner reception Mylar attached to it) on the toner reception BLT.
    Note: When assembling it to the waste toner tank unit, put the toner reception Mylar attachment surface upward.
