2. Symptom
CD1 or CD2 error code is indicated.
3. Cause
The detection sensor for CD1 (Drum Cleaning Brush Motor Failure) and CD2 (recycling
Toner Transfer Motor Failure) does not detect correctly due to noise from the LGC PWB.
4. Description
Two capacitors have been added to the LGC PWB. (See following pages)
Note: The addition of the capacitor cannot be conducted to the earlier LGC PWB’s,
therefore the LGC PWB has to be replaced with a new PWB when this error occurs.

7. Technical Tip
The current value for each motor is monitored and if this exceeds the standard value the
comparator is reversed and finally the flip flop IC senses the error CD1 or CD2. The flip
flop senses the CD1 or CD2 when any noise occurs, so to prevent the noise from
occurring the capacitor and the resistance has been inserted. In some cases the length of
pattern between the capacitor and the resistance was longer so did not reduce the noise
effectively, so a capacitor was added near the input area of the flip flop IC to prevent the
noise.
