ADDITION OF CLEANING OPERATIONS DURING
MAINTENANCE CYCLES FOR THE REVERSION PAPER
GUIDE AND PAPER DELIVERY ACTUATOR

There were cases of slight amounts of toner adhering to the actuator section of the paper
discharge detection sensor (POD2-3 detection sensor) and the ribs of the paper guide in
the paper delivery reversion unit during double-side copy operations. This problem
occurred due to the fact that the paper delivery reversion unit is located such that the copy
paper has just passed through the fusing unit and small traces of toner which has just
been fused on the copy paper is able to adhere to the other parts as described above.
Normally, this occurrence would not result in any kind of malfunction or error during
operations, but if the amount of toner which adheres to the actuator section and the ribs of
the paper guide in the paper delivery reversion unit increases to an excessive amount,
there is a possibility of problems occurring such as the soiling of the copy paper or the
copy paper becoming caught. Therefore, to make sure that such problems do not occur,
you are requested to carry out inspections of the parts in the corresponding locations and
cleaning operations of those parts during normal maintenance cycle operations.
[Inspection Procedures]
1. Disengage and remove the paper delivery reversion unit.
2. Disengage and remove the reversion paper guide (PGIDM1875FCZZ) in the paper
delivery reversion unit.
3. Inspect the ribs section on the paper delivery surface of the reversion paper guide
(PGIDM1875FCZZ) and check to make sure that there is no toner adhered to the
surface.
4. Extra care should be exercised when inspecting the corner section of the DSBD
actuator to make sure that there is no toner adhered.
5. If there should be any toner adhered to the surfaces of the parts, it should be cleaned
away with alcohol or UES. In particular, care should be exercised to avoid causing any
scratches to the rib section during cleaning operations.
