Countermeasures when the main unit cannot be 
searched automatically during the driver installation 
1. Model Name AL-1556/1566/1651CS/1655CS/1661CS/2040/2040CS 
2. Content 
When the printer driver is installed on the PC or the network-related settings are 
executed on the main unit with the DHCP not configured, the printer may not be 
searched automatically depending on the status of Windows Firewall. 
In this case, it is possible to install the printer driver or execute the network-related 
settings in the following procedures. Use them when you get inquiries from end users. 
3. Countermeasure 
There are two methods as follows. 
 (1) Enter the Ethernet address directly for search. (Recommended) 
        Even if the main unit cannot be searched automatically, this method can be taken  
        automatically by following the printer driver installation procedure. 
 (2) Set the Windows Firewall function to OFF. 
        After installing the printer driver or executing the network-related settings, return 
the Windows Firewall setting to its original state.

 Method 1) Search with entering the Ethernet address    
 
1. First, write down the Ethernet Address printed on a label under the LAN connection  
    terminal of the machine. 
 
 
2. Activate the printer driver 
 
3. Click on the "Set the IP Address"

4. Following screen is displayed. 
 
 
5. Enter the Ethernet Address you write down in the step 1 into the item of Ethernet 
Address 
 
 
6. Click on the Search button.  Search result overview is displayed. 
    After you check it, press the Next button.

7. Select the Assign IP Address, and change the setting from DHCP setting (IP address  
    automatically) to manual input setting. 
 
 
8. Enter the desired IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address. 
    (0. 0. 0. 0 is entered to all addresses in the image as an example) 
    After you input the addresses, click on the Next button. 
 
 
9. The confirmation dialogue for change is displayed.  Click on the Yes.
