1. Lookup Order.

A. The Look-Up Order refers only to the EAN codes (not PLU) on a Satellite
machine.
The machine will look up whichever machine you have selected first, if it is not
found, it will then try to find the code in the other machine

2. Missing text and price.
Q. I have programmed some EAN‟s on my slave machine
but when scanning these items they appear to have lost their text and price.
A. You have probably got your system to lookup the Master 1st and as these
EAN‟s were not programmed in the master the slave will pull back an EAN code

To overcome this problem you could set the line 920-C to update machines

3. PLU / EAN File
Q. Is it necessary to have the same size PLU/EAN file in the satellite as the
Master?

A. Not really. - For example you may want 5000 items in one part of the store
(Master machine) but only 100 items in another (satellite).
When you go to scan an EAN that is not in the satellite it will bring it from the
Master, it can then be temporally stored in the D-EAN file.

A. The cause of this particular problem was that file table number 30 was not
present on the Master machine.

6. Automatic update of PLU’s.
Q. Is it possible to update the PLU/EAN program data on other machines in a
network, automatically after a change at either the satellite machine or the
master machine?

A. Yes, the PLU and EAN products are stored in the same file and there is a new

7. VIP Sales.
Q. The PLU sales and quantity is not updated when selling the PLU as a VIP.
A. The PGM…….VIP sales is recorded against the Clerk concerned, when taking a

8. Corruption.
Q. Corruption is appearing when selling PLU‟s, the amounts being printed on the
journal roll are extremely large.

A. This and other symptoms of corruption have been caused by incorrect fitting
of the optional memory board.

9. Copying PLUs from machine to machine.

A. On the UP600/700 this is in fact possible.

10. Open Price Entry
Q. I want to be able enter an amount directly into an OPEN PLU, but my
machine always prompts me for an AMOUNT?
A. This is because MULTIPLICATION entry is set as FF.

Q. How does the Auto delete of a non accessed EAN work?
A. You will have to program the EAN to be delete by Z1, then you can program
the number of days it has not been used, then finally you go into X1/Z1 and
select EAN Delete report.

12. Departments
Q. I would like to have a large number of departments for report purposes, but I
do not have the key space. Is there a solution?

A. Yes, there is a DEPT # key this will allow the operator to enter the required

13. Mix and Match
Q. I can only enter 1 Mix & Match item in any one transaction, when I go to

A. This has probably been caused by setting the M&M Sales to 1. Check table
number 78 on the file print out, and if necessary change it by altering Group 48.

14. Mix and Match / Promotion
Q. I have set up file groups 47 & 48 and service line 921-A is set for UK, but the
promotion feature still does not work.
A. The only other area that has to be set is in PGM.

A. There are 2 settings for the Display type “GLU Mode” and “Check out Mode”

A. This particular problem was caused by the memory board being dislodged.

17. Remote Display
Q. I‟ve just fitted the Remote Display to my UP600 and unusual characters are
appearing.

thing to do at power on is a SRV Reset.

A. The machine is defaulted not to allow a negative or zero balance to be

19. Slow transaction
Q. My UP-600/700 takes about 10 seconds before it will allow me to make the
next transaction. It is connected to a PC?
A. Your system must be networked and PC linked.
