• The DVD player can play back discs recorded by NTSC using the modified PAL system, such as Video CD,
DVD-region 2, but cannot play back discs for the use in U.S.A. (region No. 1).
• Region numbers cannot be changed in this system.
• This DVD player also has a built-in system converter which makes it possible to view discs (Video CD, DVD-
region 2) recorded by the NTSC system using PAL TV. (See “NTSC Disc Play Back on PAL TV” below.)
When you connect this DVD player with NTSC TV, and play back an NTSC disc, the TV does not show any picture.
(Because the NTSC signal is converted to a PAL signal.)
NTSC Disc Play Back on PAL TV
When you play back an NTSC disc on your DVD Player, it is possible to use a PAL or multi-
system compatible TV. However, please note the following:
• The picture will shrink vertically to some degree, as shown in the diagram, but this does
not indicate a malfunction in your TV or DVD Player.
• If your TV does not have a V-HOLD control, the picture may roll and be unwatchable.
However, if you use a TV with V-HOLD control, you can stop the rolling by adjusting the
V-HOLD control and watch the picture.
