CHAPTER 2. 
ADJUSTMENTS
[1] 1-bit section
1. 1-bit amplifier’s output offset voltage adjustment
Adjustment VRA101, VRA102, VRA201, VRA202, VRA301 and
VRA302 so that the DC voltage between speaker terminals (SO603) +
and - is set to 0 
± 5 mV at AC 230 V.
NOTE: Remove the front cabinet of the set to adjust these voltages.
[2] DVD/CD section
Since this DVD/CD system incorporates the following automatic adjust-
ment functions, readjustment is not needed when replacing the pickup.
Therefore, different PWBs and pickups can be combined freely.
Each time a disc is changed, these adjustments are preformed auto-
matically. Therefore, playback of each disc can be preformed under
optimum conditions.
[3] TEST Mode
1. TEST Mode Functions
1.1. Entering the TEST Mode
While holding down both the POWER button and the EJECT button of
the main unit from the power-off state, press the FUNCTION button to
enter the Test Menu Mode.
1.2. Test mode process
Turn on the power to set the FL display to the stand-by mode.
1.3. Test mode display
• In the test mode, the model name and ROM version appear on the
FL display.
Model name (upper 5 x 7 dots): “PX*_
(* appears as “s” when input AUDITION is low and “a” when high,
both in lower case.)
The destination symbol appears in   according to the AREA termi-
nal.
Version (lower 5 x 7 dots): “Ver.****” (**** is the version number.)
(The numeric keypad on the remote control allows you to enter
each test mode directly for saving time.)
1.4. TEST Mode Menu Display
• While the version is displayed, press the SKIP and the UP/DOWN
buttons (including the buttons of the remote control) to display the
menu.
Press the SKIP button to select the TEST Mode and then press the
PLAY button to enter the mode.
The SKIP UP/DOWN buttons display menu No. 1 - No. 5.
TEST MODE
* In each TEST Mode, the followings are displayed:
Upper 5 x 7 dot section: TEST_
Lower 5 x 7 dot section: Letters for each TEST Mode which are
shown in "Display" of the above table
1.5. Canceling TEST Mode
1. When the POWER button is pressed in a test mode. “COMPLETE”
appears on the lower area of 5 x 7 dots for 1 second. Start reset
(clear the RAM).
2. In each TEST Mode, cancel the TEST Mode by power failure detec-
tion and execute shutdown. (To reset when recovering from power
failure next time, write improper data on the data for RAM check.)
2. Shipping TEST Mode
2.1. Outline
• ID command for initialization is sent to the DVD unit and EEPROM
in the unit is initialized.
2.2. TEST Mode Operation
When entering the Shipping TEST Mode:
1. Indicators “TEST” (upper 5 x 7 dots) and “INITIAL” (lower 5 x 7
dots) flash on the FL display.
2. DVD+B is set to on and communication with the DVD unit starts.
3. The DVD unit requests a model ID. The model ID is sent in the
same way as when the power is turned on, but with the following
flag set.
b7 of Byte No. 2 and Sub Command 1: Reset Bit = “1”
