Installation Warnings and Tips
• The T595 Limited loudspeakers are typi-
cally mounted in the rear quarter panels
or rear deck of most vehicles. When
placed in a location that offers adequate
airspace behind the speaker, the T595 is
capable of providing very powerful and
extended bass response.
• Be careful not to cut or drill into fuel
tanks, fuel lines, brake or hydraulic lines,
vacuum lines or electrical wiring when
working on your vehicle. Inspect behind
panels before you cut or drill.
• Check for clearance around rear deck
torsion bars or other structural elements.
• Do not mount speakers where water
may splash on the cones.
• Check to make sure that the speakers
are hooked up in proper polarity before
soldering and insulating the terminals.
• Make sure that it will be easy to run
connecting wires to the speakers. Trace
speaker wire paths before you undertake
mounting.
• Always disconnect the ground wire
from the battery before doing any work
on the vehicle.
CAUTION: Fuel tanks are located directly
beneath the rear deck in some cars.
Check for adequate speaker basket clear-
ance before considering this location!
Thank you
for purchasing these spe-
cial edition JBL speakers. This owner’s
manual has been organized to make
installing and enjoying your new speakers
as easy as possible. Please read through
this manual before beginning to install
the speakers. If you decide that you would
rather leave installation to a professional,
please consult your JBL dealer.
Autosound at Its Best
The T595 Limited is the latest update of
one of the legends of autosound. The
T595 was originally designed to be “state
of the art” and, as the years have passed,
that original vision has required few
updates to maintain that status. The
T595’s heritage is readily apparent. From
its rugged cast-frame titanium tweeter,
lacquer-coated pulp-woofer cone, to its bi-
amplification capability, the T595 is a
statement of JBL’s mastery of engineer-
ing. This latest edition of the T595 utilizes
a butyl rubber surround that not only
offers sonic improvements, but adds to
the speaker’s environmental durability.
JBL is committed to ensuring your long-
term enjoyment of these speakers.
Because of this, your T595 can be
reconed, allowing a lifetime of musical
enjoyment.
JBL has long been one of the most
respected names in professional, home
and car audio. For more than 50 years,
JBL has strived to offer the best products
available. The T595 is a perfect example
of our ongoing commitment to quality
sound reproduction.
Important Paperwork
Before proceeding, be sure to put the
sales receipt from your JBL T595 Limited
purchase in a safe place. It is necessary to
validate your Limited warranty. Having
access to the receipt is also valuable for
insurance purposes and for future refer-
ence. It is also recommended that the
complete audio installation be planned
before starting. The routing of signal and
power wires, potential loudspeaker and
amplifier locations, as well as the existing
location of the car‘s structural members
and fuel system components, should all
be carefully considered before proceed-
ing.

T595 Limited in bi-amplified configuration
connected to a dedicated high-frequency (>1500Hz)
and a dedicated low-frequency (<1500Hz) amplifier.
Removing bi-amplification jumpers.
Bi-amplification: The T595 Limited speak-
ers are equipped with two sets of speaker
terminals connected by short jumper
strips. If you wish to power your loud-
speaker system with two amplifiers you
must separate the two sets of speaker ter-
minals. By clipping the jumper wires, the
high-frequency input will be separated
from the low-frequency input and the
loudspeaker system will be ready for bi-
amplification. (See diagram.) It is recom-
mended that the factory 1500Hz crossover
point be the lowest used with the high-
frequency drivers of the T595 Limited
speakers. The slope of any external
crossover should be 12dB per octave or
greater.
A Note on Power Handling
As a result of their high efficiency, all JBL
loudspeakers will produce reasonable vol-
ume levels in the automotive environment
using very little amplifier power. However,
the use of a small amplifier to attain very
high volume levels could lead to over-dri-
ving the amplifier. This will generate high
distortion levels which can easily damage
loudspeakers, even if the rated power of
the amplifier is below the rated maximum
power handling of the loudspeaker!
As a general rule, do not turn up the vol-
ume control past the point where you
hear distortion in the form of either signal
distortion from an overdriven amplifier or
mechanical noise from an overstressed
speaker.
For the best performance and system reli-
ability, you should select an amplifier with
an output rating greater than the maxi-
mum power likely to be used to generate
the desired volume levels.
Your JBL dealer will be able to recom-
mend which JBL amplifiers are best for
your application and listening habits.
Following these guidelines will provide
sound reproduction free from audible dis-
tortion and help ensure years of listening
pleasure.
WARNING: Playing loud music over
120dB can permanently damage your
hearing. The maximum volume levels
achievable with JBL components and
high power amplification may exceed
safe levels for extended listening. When
listening at high volume levels, always
use hearing protection or turn the volume
down!
