Thank You
for purchasing JBL’s Century Series automotive
loudspeakers.  We have organized  this manual to make your installation
as simple and trouble-free as possible. Please read through it completely
before proceeding. If after having read it, you decide that you would
rather leave installation to a professional, consult your local JBL
Century Series Dealer.
Save Your Purchase Receipt
You will need your purchase receipt as proof for  any an all warranty
repairs and for insurance purposes. Keep your receipt, owners manual,
and packing materials in a safe location for  possible future use.
Autosound at Its Best
Your JBL Century Series speakers are built to meet the same rigorous
standards of construction and performance that have long established
JBL’s renowned home and professional speakers.
Your new Century Series speakers have been designed using a
combination of technologies that bring high value to high performance.
The basket design is a new one, made from a unique injection-molded
amorphous polymer with high molecular weight. This new material has
a much higher internal damping than metal, so any unwanted vibrations
in the basket are terminated before they can reach the cone. The overall
result is higher sensitivity due to increased flux in the voice coil gap and
a significant decrease in driver distortion.
Next generation Titanium Domes
An all new 1“ pure Titanium dome tweeter with neodymium structure is
used on all Century Coax models. This tweeter gives pure performance
resulting in the smoothest, most open high-frequency reproduction ever
made available for automotive applications.
JBL’s New 2“ Coaxial Element
An all new 2“ coax driver is used in the component kits, the 6x9" C930
3-way, and is also offered separately as the C220s. The result is an
extremely compact driver, that handles frequencies from 500Hz to well
above 20kHz with great clarity and control.
Installation Warning and Tips
• Be careful not to cut or drill into fuel tanks, fuel lines brake or
hydraulic lines, vacuum lines or electrical wiring when working on
your vehicle. Inspect behind panels before you cut or drill.
• Make sure that the speaker will physically fit in the mounting location.
If door mounting, check for adequate clearance with the window in
both closed and open positions as well as for interference with window
crank and power mechanism. If mounting elsewhere, check for
clearance around rear deck torsion bars, glove box or other structural
elements.
• Do not mount speakers where they will get wet.
• Make sure that it will be easy to run connecting wires to the speakers.
Trace speaker wire paths before you undertake mounting.
• Always disconnect the ground wire from the battery before doing any
work on the vehicle.
Caution
Fuel tanks are located directly beneath the rear deck in some cars.
Check for adequate speaker basket clearance before considering this
location!
