Replace the first paragraph with the following. 
Test 9 of IEC 60851-6:1996, followed by the electric 
strength test of 5.2.2 of this standard except applying 
the test voltage between the wire and the mandrel. A 
test voltage shall be the appropriate voltage in table 5B 
(see 5.2.2) of this standard. 
However, the minimum values shall be as follows: 
 
- for BASIC INSULATION or SUPPLEMENTARY 
INSULATION, 1500 V, or; 

 

- for REINFORCED INSULATION, 3000 V.

Replace the third paragraph describing the test voltage 
with the following. 
The test voltage shall not be less than the appropriate 
voltage in table 5B (see 5.2.2) of this standard. 
However, the minimum values shall be as follows: 
 
- for BASIC INSULATION or SUPPLEMENTARY 
INSULATION, 1500 V, or; 
 
- for REINFORCED INSULATION, 3000 V. 
It is applied between the shot and the conductor.

The test voltage for ROUTINE TESTING shall be the 
appropriate voltage in table 5B (see 5.2.2) of this 
standard. Howeve, the minimum values shall be as 
follows: 
 
- for BASIC INSULATION or SUPPLEMENTARY 
INSULATION, 1500 V r.m.s. or 2100 V peak, or; 
 
- for REINFORCED INSULATION, 3000 V r.m.s. or 
4200 V peak.

Twisted pair samples shall be tested in accordance 
with IEC 60851-5:1996, 4.4.1. The minimum 
breakdown voltage shall not be less than twice the 
appropriate voltage in table 5B (see 5.2.2) of this 
standard. However, the minimum values shallbe as 
follows: 
 
- for BASIC INSULATION or SUPPLEMENTARY 
INSULATION, 3000 V r.m.s. or 4200 V peak, or; 
 
- for REINFORCED INSULATION, 6000 V r.m.s. or 
8400 V peak.
